ZDM 7 upgrade halts with "stop Sybase" when Sybase is NOT running

Situation

Error: Before proceeding with installation, stop Sybase on the server

The preceding message is presented as files are being copied to the volume containing the database files. The screen looks like this:



Resolution

Even though zdmstop was issued and java was exited, the installation still failed. Found that the files/directories on the volume where Sybase databases are installed were not flagged appropriately. Flagged the files as normal using the following approach:

  • load toolbox -nl
  • flag N /s
  • unload toolbox

Restarted the installation and it completed with no errors.

Additional Information

In some instances, the install may fail while copying files to the ConsoleOne directories, similarly flagging the directory as N (normal) for the ConsoleOne installation path may be necessary also.
