How To Install A Print Driver And Printer At A Branch Office Console

Novell Branch Office 2.0 (NBO)

Situation

GUI is unaccessible, however, the branch office console is.

Resolution

NOTE: Type 'HELP' without quotes at the NBO console to bring up a list of commands. This can be expanded by typing in the next step(s) of the command: ie. HELP ADD, or HELP ADD PRINTER
  1. Install the print driver first:
    • ADD PRINTDRIVER PATH=
    • Platforms: win9x, winnt4, win2000 winXP
  2. Confirm the print driver was installed and note the name:
    • LIST PRINTDRIVER
  3. Install the printer and associate it with the driver:
    • ADD PRINTER ,ADDRESS=,=""
    • CRITICAL: There are NO spaces between the comma delimited fields. If spaces are added then the command will fail.
    • IE: ADD PRINTER HP4100N,ADDRESS=10.10.10.20,winXP="PRINTDRIVERNAME
  4. Confirm the printer was installed:
    • LIST PRINTER
