Environment

Novell Access Management 3 Linux Access Gateway
Novell Access Management 3 Access Administration

Situation

Linux Access Gateway configured to accelerate an iNotes Web server. Some browsers in the environment are running older versions of IE with known issues handling gzip compressed data. To avoid any compression of data being returned to the browser, the Web server configuration for the Linux Access Gateway reverse proxy service had the 'Enable Force HTTP 1.0 to Origin' server enabled. The goal of this is to have the proxy send HTTP 1.0 requests to the origin server so that the origin server would respond with no compressed data. Even with this 'Enable Force HTTP 1.0 to Origin' parameter enabled, the Linux Access Gateway would continue to send HTTP 1.1 requests to the origin server and the responses from this server were always compressed.

Resolution

Apply Linux Access Gateway build 3.0.1-171 and greater. The 171 build is shipped with Access Manager 3 Support Pack 1 release Candidate 1 patch.
