Novell eDirectory 8.7.3

Situation

Error: Contraint Violation seen during an ldap import.

Resolution

In this particular case a user was being added who had an application assignment. The application had not yet been imported. Either import the other object first or use the -F option in ldapmodify to create a forward reference pointer object until the real object can be imported.

Additional Information

This error can be seen under the following circumstances:

1. Forward referencing is not turned on and this object being imported references another object that has not yet been imported or created.

2. Attempting to import a user password greater than 128 characters or adding an additional value to the password attribute.

3. Password is too short or is a duplicate of one previously used.

4. Syntax violation. The syntax for an attribute does not agree between the tree exported from and the tree being imported to.

5. Distinguished name is too long.

6. The attribute being updated is not multi-valued.
