Situation
The linux client takes a long time to start
3 minute delay before the login box appears
3 minute delay before the login box appears
Resolution
The problem may be caused by an invalid IP address stored in
/etc/hosts
Modify /etc/hosts on the local workstation and look for any entries that refer to the local machine. There is likely an entry similar to:
127.0.0.2 yourmachine.yourdomain.com yourmachine
Make sure that there is not another entry with an invalid or incorrect IP address. If you find one remove it and restart the network services.
rcnetwork restart
