Installing to a SQL 7.0 or 2000 Server.
Novell ZENworks Asset Management 7 - ZAM7
Novell ZENworks Asset Management 3.3 - ZAM3.3

Situation

Error during database portion of install CoCreateInstance failed.

Here is an example of what is seen in the DBsetuplog.txt file within the \logs directory of the machine doing the installation.

DBCreate.dll 11/7/2005 11:11:23 AM 000

CoCreateInstance failed.


Resolution

Install the Microsoft Client tools (located on the SQL Server CD) on the machine that you are doing the inititial installation from.

Additional Information

We need SQLDMO installed on the machine for us to communicate with the SQL Server. SQLDMO is the application interface for SQL.
