Situation

Roaming profiles do not apply after reboot.
User's home directory resides on a cluster volume.
Unable to access home directory.
Slow Login
Cause:
ZENworks calls the Microsoft process to apply roaming profiles. Microsoft's process can not recognize virtual server name for shared volume when user home directory is configured on the shared volume and therefore it can not apply roaming profiles and the login process is very slow. It will then have to wait until DNS process has finished.

Resolution

Verify path resolution to allow the roaming profile path to be found.

  1. Check that the volume name or Cluster Resource Name is included in DNS. Or modify the hosts file to point to the Cluster Resource.
  2. Verify the volume objects and resolution in NDS.
  3. Review that SLP Services holds an entry for the server, or Cluster Resource Name.

Additional Information

DNS, NDS and/or SLP are failing to resolve the volume path to where the roaming profile is stored.
