NLDAP can become unresponsive after deleting a large number of objects

Environment

Novell eDirectory 8.7.3 for Solaris
Novell eDirectory 8.7.3 for Linux
Novell eDirectory 8.7.3 for AIX
Novell eDirectory 8.7.3 for HP-UX

Situation

When deleting a large number of objects from eDirectory, LDAP can become unresponsive when the objects are being processed in change cache.

"Large number" seems to be greater than 100,000 objects but would be dependant on disk I/O and the number of association the objects have.

Resolution

This issue has been reported to development

Suggestion 1:
Limit the number of objects that are deleted at a time. Wait until delete is complete (obituaries processed and change cache for the partitions is less than 1,000) before deleting more objects.

Suggestion 2:
Decrease dib cache to around 200MB for large dibs using either the _ndsdb.ini file in the dib directory or iMonitor.
