GroupWise Agents do not start on linux automatically after a reboot

Environment

Novell GroupWise 7 Support Pack 2 HotPatch1a
Novell Open Enterprise Server (Linux based)
Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9
Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10
Configuration:
GroupWise directories located on an NSS Volume

Situation

Symptoms:
GroupWise Agents do not start on linux automatically after a reboot
GroupWise Agent does not start on linux automatically after a reboot
MTA does not start automatically after a reboot
POA does not start automatically after a reboot
GWIA does not start automatically after a reboot
WebAccess does not start automatically after a reboot
Starting the GroupWise Agents manually works fine after the reboot is complete

Resolution

Workaround Steps:
1. Browse to /etc/init.d/ directory
2. Edit grpwise file
3. Type "nss" without quotes after novell-nss as shown in the following. The # in the following statments does not indicate a comment
# Should-Start: ndsd namcd novell-nss nss
# Required-Stop: $network $remote_fs
# Should-Stop: ndsd namcd novell-nss nss
4. Save the file
5. Restart the server
Corrective Actions:
Apply GroupWise 7 Support Pack 3 for Linux by following the steps mentioned in the following TID.

Additional Information

Under certain circumstances, the Linux agents to do not start automatically at system startup, even though you selected Launch GroupWise Agents on System Startup during installation. Use the following commands as root to correct the problem:


chkconfig grpwise off

chkconfig grpwise on
