VMWARE ESX Server hangs when iChain is installed

VMWARE ESX Server

Situation

If iChain is installed as a Virtual Machine on VMWARE ESX Server the VMWARE Server will lock up at random times from anywhere between a few hours to a few weeks of operation. The keyboard is unresponsive and the server will need to be rebooted to restore operation.

Resolution

Disable the serial port of the iChain Virtual Machine as follows:

- Access the BIOS of the iChain Virtual Machine
- Select Advanced Menu
- Select the I/O Device configuration
- Deactivate all the Serial Ports
- Save the setting
- Reboot the Virtual Machine
