Environment

Products:
Novell GroupWise 7 Support Pack 2
Novell GroupWise 7 Support Pack 2 HP1a

Configuration:
GWIA unable to communicate with the Post Office due to wrong Post Office Links or firewall

Situation

Symptom:
iCal Appointments come as mail
iCal Appointments come as mail if GWIA is not able to login to the Post Office

Resolution

Upgrade to GroupWise 7 Support Pack 3.

Workaround Steps:
1. Launch ConsoleOne
2. Connect to the Domain that holds GWIA
3. Highlight the Domain Object in the GroupWise View
4. Use the drop-down list to display Gateways
5. Right Click on the GWIA object and select Properties
6. Click Post Office Links tab
7. Highlight the Post Office and click Edit link
8. Make sure that the correct Post Office IP Address/Client/Server Port or UNC path is mentioned there. If not change it to the correct information
9. Click Ok
10. Click Apply and Close

Also make sure that there is no firewall blocking GWIA from communicating to the POA. Try telnetting POA IP address on Client/Server Port from the GWIA server to make sure it can connect. Eg
Telnet 192.168.1.0 1677
Load TEL.NLM 192.168.10 1677
(where 192.168.1.0 is the IP Address of POA and 1677 is the Client/Server port)

Additional Information

It has also been seen that if an iCAL appointment is sent to users in different Post Offices and if GWIA is able to communicate with any one Post Office then all the users will recieve the iCAL appointment properly. However if an iCAL appointment is sent to users and GWIA is not able to login to any Post Office then iCAL appoinment becomes a message.
