GroupWise Agents configured to run as non-root user
"Index check" configured as a Scheduled Event
Running "Index check" using Standalone GWCHECK as non-root user
Situation
Symptoms:
ERROR: "Error 22- Database check error: Unknown Error 0x8210 (0x8210)" while running "Index check" as non-root user on few message databases
8210 error while running "Index check" as non-root user on few message databases
Running "Index check" as a Scheduled Event with the agents being run as root user works fine
Running "Index check" using Standalone GWCHECK as root user works fine
Resolution
Workaround Steps:
Please follow the steps listed below on the Linux server if "Index check" is being run as a Scheduled Event or through ConsoleOne
1. Launch Shell Konsole
2. Type "setfacl -m u:non-rootuser:rwx /" without quotes and press Enter to give the non-root user explicit rights to write to the root of the file system. Do not put a -R before -m as that would give the non-root user explicit rights to the entire file system
OR
Run the agents as root
Please follow the steps listed below on the Linux server if "Index check" is being run using Standalone GWCHECK
1. Lauch Shell Konsole
2. Type "cd /opt/novell/groupwise/gwcheck" without quotes and press Enter
3. Type "setfacl -m u:non-rootuser:rwx lib" without quotes and press Enter to give non-root user explicit rights to the lib directory
OR
Run Standalone GWCHECK as root
Corrective Actions:
Upgrade to GroupWise as this has been fixed in GroupWise 8.
