Unable to purge Event log

Environment

Novell ZENworks 7.2 Linux Management - ZLM7.2

Situation

In the Bundles tab there is an Event log that will show errors. Those errors can be acknowledged, which will remove them from being visible in the Event log in the Bundles tab. However, if you click on the Advanced link, it will show you the full Event log and will even show acknowledged events. There is no way from this interface to purge acknowledged events.

Resolution

Follow these steps to permanently remove events from the Event log.
In ZCC select device -> Server/WorkStation -> deviceObject.
On the left panel there is a Message Cleanup Option where in we have different
options for event log messages.
Actions that can be performed.
1. Acknowledge -> acknowledge messages for selected range of date.
2. Clear -> clear the message for selected range of date.
3. Delete permanently -> this message cleans up permanently from database for
a selected range of date.
Note: Performing Message Cleanup for device cleans up all event log messages(
Event log from bundle, policy and all other sources ).
