Some Address Book fields does not get synchronized between GroupWise Client and PDA Devices

Environment

Novell GroupWise 7.0.1 Client for Windows - Italian Language
Novell GroupWise PDA Connect 7.0.1
Microsoft Pockect PC 200X / Mobile 5.0 Devices Translator
Microsoft ActiveSync 4.2.0

Situation

Using the Italian localization of the GroupWise 7.0.1 Client for Windows, the following Address Book fields does not flow from the GroupWise Client to the PDA Device during the contacts synchronization:

Pocket Pc Fields <--> GroupWise Fields

Home Telephone <--> Home Phone
Home Street Address <--> Address (Personal)
Home City <--> City (Personal)
Home State <--> State (Personal)
Home Country <--> Country (Personal)
Businness Country <--> Country (Office)

That in the Italian localization are:

Campi Pocket PC <--> Campi GroupWise

Telefono (ab.) <--> Telefono (ab.)
Indirizzo (ab.) <--> Indirizzo (Personale)
Città (ab.) <--> Città (Personale)
Provincia (ab.) <--> Stato (Personale)
Paese (ab.) <--> Nazione (Personale)
Paese (uff.) <--> Nazione (Ufficio)

Resolution

None.

GroupWise PDA Connect 7.x reached the End of Life status therefore this issue will not be fixed. GroupWise Mobile Server is the new product to be used for mobile devices synchronization.

Possible Workaround currently available are:

  • Use the English version of the GroupWise 7.0.1 Client for Windows.
  • Use GroupWise Client version 6.5.6 that is not affected by this issue.

Additional Information

Please note that:

  • this issue is independent from the localization used for PDA Connect and does not exists using the English localization of the GroupWise Client;
  • this issue does NOT affect the GroupWise 6.5.6 Client for Windows.
Steps to Reproduce:

Install the listed software versions and localizations than perform the following steps:

  1. Open the GroupWise Client and create a new contact in a personal Address Book filling all the fields mentioned in the list above;
  2. Open the GroupWise PDA Connect client, right click on"Contacts" and select "Configure";
  3. Select the "Mapping" tab;
  4. Select "Contacts" from the left panel;
  5. Click the button "Mapping" on the right side (insert your GW password if requested);
  6. Verify that all the mappings for the listed fields are actually present, then push the "Show Data" button;
  7. Going through the list you can notice that the mentioned fields are not populated, therefore will not be synchronized.
