Environment

Novell iPrint for NetWare Novell NetWare 6.5 Support Pack 3

Situation

Error: Directory Search Failure
(Error -635) The target server does not have the correct information about the source server.

Resolution

Workaround 1:
Type (not browse for) the eDir Volume object name.

Workaround 2:
a. In the window that shows the error, find "Look for these types:"
b. Click + sign next to the word Volume (in green text)
c. Click the minus sign next to Logic Group 1.
d. Click OK
e. Click Apply
f. Browse to the volume object.

Workaround 3:
Install a NetWare OES server into the tree. This action will add the linuxNCPMountPoint attribute that the object selector is expecting to find.

Cause:
NetWare OES is similar to NetWare 6.5 SP3, but not the same. Installing NetWare OES extends the schema to include the attribute of linuxNCPMountPoint. But, installing NetWare 6.5 SP3 does not. By applying the updated iPrint NPM that is recommended with iManager 2.6, that attribute is referenced in the search logic when using the Object Selector to browse for a volume object to create the Print Manager or Broker. That logic fails with a 635 error because the attribute does not exist. The linuxNCPMountPoint attribute is added only when installing an OES (NetWare or Linux) server into the tree.

The search logic excludes volumes with the linuxNCPMountPoint attribute to ensure that a Linux volume would not be accidentally selected when choosing a host for a NetWare Print Manager or Broker. Ideally, the iManager Object Selector would not error out due to not finding an attribute defined in the search logic. There are no plans to change this particular behavior of the Object Selector.
