Situation

The customer had a very large number of users accessing the same application objects in the same partition and noted that NAL had become significantly slower during peak usage times as the number of managed stations increased.

Resolution

Many of the attributes of application objects that NAL must read are stored as stream objects.
By default, the Novell Client is configured to read these stream files in small chucks which can be inefficient if many stream files need to be read which is often the case with ZENworks.
The Novell Client can be configured so that most of these stream files can be retrieved in a single packet instead of many packets.

There are not any known conditions in which this setting could have an adverse effect.
The ZENworks Agent reads stream files in large chunks by default when communicating via the Middle-Tier so this setting would not be required in an environment without Client32.
