Novell NetWare 6.5 Support Pack 5
Novell NetWare 6.5 Support Pack 6

Situation

Ran into the problem documented in TIDs: 3463889, 10080852. These TIDs deal with the deletion of the uxaction.log file used by TTS. Sometimes after upgrading from sp5 to sp6, the TTS enabled volumes would not mount for the reasons mentioned in these TIDs. In this case, it's necessary to backrev to sp5, disable the TTS on the affected volumes, then delete the uxaction.log file so that the volumes can mount under sp6. The problem was that the uxaction.log could not be deleted even after following the steps in the TIDs. Load MONITOR->FILE OPEN/LOCK ACTIVITY->select the volume and browse for the uxaction.log file showed that there was a lock on the uxaction.log file by connection 0. This prevented the uxaction.log from being deleted. Clearly there was some other application they had loaded that was using TTS and locking the uxaction.log.

Resolution

In this case the other application was NDPS printing. NDPS does use TTS to track its print jobs. After unloading NDPS, the uxaction log could then be deleted.
