Environment

Novell GroupWise 7.0.x
Novell GroupWise Internet Agent (GWIA) 7.0.x
Novell GroupWise WebAccess 7.0.x

Situation

When GroupWise agent patches are released for the NetWare platform, an administrator can test the reliability of the update without overwriting the existing code. This makes backreving a simple process if problems are encountered.

Resolution

1. Extract the patch that needs to be tested. (Assumption: the patch is extracted to a folder named "GWPATCH")
2. Create a temporary folder in the SYS volume. (Assumption: the temporary folder is named "GW")
3. Copy the NLMs of the agents that need to be tested. The NLMs that need to be copied are as follows:
a. MTA & POA:
Copy all the files listed in the "GWPATCH\AGENTS\NLM" to "SYS:\GW"
Copy all the files listed in the "GWPATCH\AGENTS\NLM\LANGUAGE" to"SYS:\GW"
b. GWIA: Copy all the files listed in the "GWPATCH\INTERNET\GWIA\NLM\EXE" to "SYS:\GW"
c. WEBACCESS: Copy all the files listed in the "GWPATCH\INTERNET\WEBACCES\NLM" to"SYS:\GW"
3. Load the agents by typing the load commands on the Server Console in the following manner:
a. MTA: load address space mta sys:\gw\gwmta @sys:\system\dom.mta
b. POA: load address space poa sys:\gw\gwpoa @sys:\system\po.poa
c. GWIA: load address space gwia sys:\gw\gwia @sys:\system\gwia.cfg
d. WEBACESS: load address space web sys:\gw\gwinter @sys:\system\webac70a.waa
