Situation
Can the database files used for Inventory services be transferred to another inventory server on a different platform?
Resolution
The .db
files are not platform specific.
1. Set
up the second inventory server per the instructions in the
documentation.
2. Set
up the inventory services object on the second server per the
instructions in the documentation.
3.
Back up the existing db files on the destination server, in case of
problems.
4.
Stop the inventory services on both servers. For example, on
linux run:
/etc/init.d/novell-zdm-sybase
stop
/etc/init.d/novell-zdm-inv
stop
5.
Copy the .db files. For example, from NetWare to linux
copy:
mgmtdb.db
mgmtdb1.db
mgmtdb2.db
mgmtdb3.db
mgmtdb4.db
mgmtdb5.db
mgmtdb6.db
mgmtdb7.db
mgmtdb8.db
mgmtdb9.db
mgmtdb10.db
mgmtdb11.db
mgmtdb1.db
mgmtdb2.db
mgmtdb3.db
mgmtdb4.db
mgmtdb5.db
mgmtdb6.db
mgmtdb7.db
mgmtdb8.db
mgmtdb9.db
mgmtdb10.db
mgmtdb11.db
from:
vol:\ZENworks\Database\Inv\DB
to
:
/opt/sybase/novell/zenworks/inv/lib
6. Restart
the services:
/etc/init.d/novell-zdm-sybase
start
/etc/init.d/novell-zdm-inv
start

To set workstations to use the new inventory server,
modify policies that point to the NetWare inventory database and
service to change to the linux inventory database and service
using ConsoleOne.
