Environment

Novell ZENworks 7 Desktop Management Support Pack 1 - ZDM7 SP1 Application Launcher (NAL)
Novell GroupWise 7

Situation

After upgrading the GroupWise Client the user gets the following error when launching the client application.
ERROR: ccw32.dll cannot be found

Resolution

  1. Using ZENworks, create a simple NAL application without specifying a particular path to a file. Open the properties of the new application.
  2. On the Distribution Options tab, click Application Files. Click the Add button and choose File. Check the Target File to be Deleted box. Browse for the Target file you wish to delete.

If the file is within the Windows or WINNT directory, manually type the path starting with %systemroot%\. In this case, we used:

    %systemroot%\system32\nwsso.dll

If the file is a shortcut, then manually type in the path using .lnk for the file extension. In this case, we used:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop\GroupWise.lnkOn the Associations tab, associate the application to the appropriate Workstation or User object(s) and Check the Force Apply box. Then save the changes.

  3. If the file to be deleted is within the Windows or WINNT directories, associate it to a Workstation so the file gets deleted as the workstation boots.

If the file to be deleted is within the user's profile, associate it to a User so the profile is active before the file gets deleted.
  4. Then reboot the workstation (if workstation associated) or Log off and Log back in (if User associated).
