Environment
Novell Access Management 3 SSLVPN Server
Situation
When I connect to an SSLVPN server, most of my protected
applications work fine (telnet, FTP, Groupwise were all tested
successfully). However some other applications fail such as
Microsoft Outlook talking to an Exchange server using MAPI.
Resolution
Regarding Microsoft Outlook, if the client talks to a POP3, IMAP,
or HTTP backend then you should be OK. If it is talking to Exchange
normally then it uses MAPI (an RPC call) which does not go via the
winsock layer and the SSLVPN redirector client does not intercept
it. The SSLVPN client only intercepts TCP and UDP winsock calls
made after the SSLVPN tunnel is brought it.
