Situation

The GroupWise Mobile Server documentation indicates that the GroupWise Mobile Server and the Secure Gateway can communicate over port 443. Selecting valid certificates for the secure connection is well documented.

Resolution

In order to make the secure connection, a valid 3rd Party trusted root certificate must be used.
