Situation
Failed NMAS authentication. NMAS error FFFFF98C is displayed when
trying to make a vpn connection with the server.
CSAUDIT shows Failed to process NMAS request. NMAS error code = 0xFFFFF977
NMAS trace at vpn client shows NMAS_ClientLogin returning: -1652
DSTRACE +NMAS shows no traffic at all on the server
DSREPAIR shows no errors
VPN Compatibility mode works fine
Security Services 2.0.4 has been installed

Resolution
The 0xFFFFF977 error means -1673FFFFF977NMAS E NO NMAS ON TREE,
but nmas is installed and properly configured. After run sdidiag, the result log files showed that the vpn server did not have a SDKey assigned. Following tid 10088626 to resync the SDKey to all servers on the tree, allowed the vpn server to get the SDKey and the nmas error was gone and vpn login was possible again.
