Situation
Error message in ndsd.log every time the Solaris server is
rebooted: "could not open
database port 524 already in use".
After reboot eDirectory server (ndsd daemon) can be stopped and restarted without any problems.

Resolution
The cause of this error message is duplicate startup script links
in the /etc/rc2.d directory on the Solaris server. For
example, the existence of "S74nds" and "S75NDS" files in the
/etc/rc2.d directory will lead to both scripts attempting to start
ndsd daemon and the second attempt failing to bind to the port
524.
This is mostly a cosmetic issue, but the deletion of the duplicate link in the /etc/rc2.d directory will fix the problem.
