Situation

Verifying or Updating the ZENworks Patch Management PatchLink PLUS Proxy settings

Resolution

Adding New Proxy Settings
1. Use the Proxycfg.exe utility at the DOS Command Prompt
2. In Control Panel > Novell Patch Management > Subscription Agent, click the Modify button for Proxy Settings and add the appropriate values.

Changing Existing Proxy Settings
1. Delete the HKLM\Software\Patchlink.com\Gravitix\SubAgent key before runing Proxycfg
2. Use the Proxycfg.exe utility at the DOS Command Prompt
3. In Control Panel > Novell Patch Management > Subscription Agent, click the Modify button for Proxy Settings and add the appropriate values.
4. Got to the PatchLink Web Page > Options > Support > Re-Register

Additional Information

1. During the installation no Proxy information was entered.
2. The "Company" proxy information entered was incorrect or has changed.
3. The "Company" proxy server was down during the installation
In ZENworks Patch Management there is reference to 2 types of proxy servers:

1. A "Company Proxy Server", this type of Proxy server is used by the local PLUS server, during subscription replication, to get out of the company firewall and communicate with PLHOST (https://novell.patchlink.com/update/).
2. A PatchLink Distribution Point (PDP), this is a NT Squid Proxy. Agents can be configured to communicate with a PatchLink Distribution Point server, and packages will be cached on this proxy server once requested by an agent.

This TID references information about the "Company Proxy Server" and not the PatchLink Distribution Point proxy server.

File usage: proxycfg -? (to view help information)
proxycfg (to view current proxy settings)
proxycfg -p : (to set proxy settings)



There are three areas where the Proxy information is stored:
1. PatchLink Web Page > Options > Subscription Service


*Note: You may have to enter the Proxy Host field manually.

2. Internet Explorer (Tools > Internet Options > Connections> Local Area Network (LAN) Settings > Proxy Server)



3. In the Registry at HKLM/software/patchlink.com/Gravtix/SubAgent
