Environment
NFS Gateway for NetWare 6.5
Novell NetWare 6.5 Support Pack 5
Situation
Mounting a NFS Share and connecting to that Volume to retrieve and
store data on it, the Volume object would not show up in the
eDirectory.
When loading GYSTART it showed the error on the logger screen:
20846:Unable to create the volume object in eDirectory
Right after that message it also showed on the logger screen
Activating volume "UVV"...
Volume UVV set to the ACTIVE state.
Mounting Volume UVV
UVV mounted successfully

Resolution
After checking rights of the NFAUUser it was clear that this user
didn't have sufficient rights to create the Volume object.
Set the NFAUUser's security level to be equivalent to admin and retried mounting the volume. This time there was no
error message displayed on the logger screen and the Volume object was created in eDirectory.

Additional Information
Though the NFS share is accessible and operable, a missing volume
object might cause issues with software relying on information
stored in eDirectory (e.g. backup software).
