Situation
A problem occurs if a directory
name includes one of these diacritic (extended) characters : À, Â,
Ä, È, Ê, Ë, Ì, Î, Ï, Ù, Û, Ò, Ô (capital letters only) anywhere inthe name. When the Excel document is saved, the file is
successfully saved, but an error is thrown. Translated to English,
it reads:
The document was saved successfully, but Excel cannot reopen it because of a sharing violation. Close the document and try to reopen it.
No error is thrown when saving an MS Word document, but the temporary .doc file is not deleted when the document is closed.

Resolution
The file is being locked by McAfee
NetShield, in order to be scanned for viruses. However,
becauseNetshield currently
supports only English, the file is not be correctly
unlocked.When a file is
locked in this manner by another process such as NetShield, the
Novell Client cannot do anything but return the error to the
application requesting the file open.
The only way to resolve the problem for now is to rename the directory to remove the "special" characters.
