Error: "0 ERROR (E01) 0010007: Exchange server was down
Resolution
Start the MS Exchange Message Transfer Agent service. If
errors occur while starting this service, contact Microsoft
Support.
Checking the Windows NT Event Log (Windows NT | Start |
Programs | Administrative Tools | Event Viewer may give additional
information on errors starting the MS Exchange Message Transfer
Agent and or the Gateway service.
The Exchange MTA needs to be fully started before the Gateway
is able to start. In some case is may be necessary to delay
the Gateway service to start after the Exchange MTA.
To delay the gateway service:
Modify registry setting for the gateway (note modifications to
the registry should be preformed by some one who is familiar with
this process)
1) Go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\CurrentControlSet\Services\the
gateway
2) Modify DependOneService Key
2) Add MSExchangeMTA to the Value data box and save
This will make the starting of the service dependent on the
starting of the MTA. This is usually only seen when the
server is restarted and the MTA service is still in the process of
starting when the gateway service tries to start.
