Environment

Novell ZENworks 7 Desktop Management
Novell ZENworks 7 Handheld Management - ZHM7
Novell ZENworks 7 Server Management
Third Party products like VMWare that can mount an .ISO as a CD.

Situation

ERROR: Unable to install from common source.

Resolution

Workaround is to burn the .ISO and run it as a CD under an operating system that can read the alternative Windows/Unix(31) format used in these ISO files, such as Windows 2003. The other seven ZENWORKS 7.0 ISO files not listed above do not have the problem as they were created using the Joliet format.

ZENWORKS 7 With SP1 ISO files are not affected as they also where created using the Joliet format.

Additional Information

The problem is if the .ISO file is not Joliet format, the OS/Utility being used to mount/access the ISO image may not be able to read the long file name directory entries of the files in the ISO, resulting in what looks like DOS converted long file names that contain the tilde character. Extracting files from the ISO under these conditions will probably retain the incorrectly read file name resulting in 'missing files' when trying to run programs extracted from the ISO.
