Server freezes when running dsrepair -rc after upgrade to eDirectory 8.8.2

Situation

After upgrading to eDirectory 8.8.2, creating NDS archives through dsrepair fails occasionaly. When it fails, the dsrepair screen never releases control and after a while the server becomes unresponsive and eventually freezes. It is only possible to jump into the debugger at this point.

Resolution

eDirectory 8.8.2 has changed the way it internally handles stream files. The problem would only be encountered if one of the stream files that dsrepair is trying to archive happens to be used at the moment of the repair. The only interim workaround would be to make sure that no stream file is open at the moment that the archive is being taken.
