Environment

Novell ZENworks 7 Desktop Management Support Pack 1 - ZDM7 SP1 Desktop Management

Situation

DLU created volatile user profiles are not being deleted on logout when connecting through Terminal Services. This happens when Group Policies are also in use (see additional notes).

Resolution

Fixed in ZENworks 7 Desktop Management Service Pack 1 Interim Release 3a, see KB 3484245 "Updates to Novell ZENworks 7 Desktop Management" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support

Additional Information

The Group Policy helper is calling the Microsoft IE Branding Group Policy Extension to do a cleanup whenever a user logs in to a Terminal Server session. This call is required to clean up potential IE setting (like homepage, etc.) in case a Group Policy policy was disassociated from the user.
This call is causing the index-files to remain open in the WinLogon process and therefore we are unable to remove the profile directory. This call does not appear to cause any issues on Windows 2000 server.
