What is Novell's maintenance and
support policy for the SUSE Linux Enterprise Software
Development Kit (SLE SDK)?
Resolution
The SLE SDK is provided by
Novell without guaranteed maintenance or support.
On a case-by-case base Novell releases security updates for packages that Novell thinks are critical for its customers.
While for the SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop and Server products backports are the preferred mechanism to address security issues (as they are best for stability), there is no such policy of version stability for the SLE SDK. Stability of the SDK as a development platform will be given consideration when updates for the SDK are prepared, but other factors such as keeping up with technology developments are given consideration as well.
While there is no formal support for the SLE SDK, Novell Technical Services will accept bug reports and feature requests regarding the SDK and will relay those to SDK product development.
