GroupWise 7 SP1 client for Intel Macintosh does not start

Novell GroupWise 7 SP1 Client for Intel-based Macintosh

Situation

When trying to start the GroupWise 7 SP1 client for Intel Macintosh computers, the client attempts to start running, but does not load (the GroupWise icon pops up on the Dock for half a second and then disappears)

Resolution

This problem can happen if the Mac OS is configured to use (Java) J2SE 1.4.2 instead of the newer J2SE 5.0.

You should be able to fix it by running a utility called "Java Preferences.app" in | Applications | Utilities | Java | J2SE 5.0, and configuring the settings to use J2SE 5.0.
