Environment

Novell eDirectory
Novell GroupWise

Resolution

1. Create the group in eDirectory as a non-dynamic group. You can do this in ConsoleOne.
2. Publish the group as a GroupWise distribution list. Do this in ConsoleOne by editing the properties of the Group and assigning a post office from the "GroupWise" tab of the group properties.
3. Make the eDirectory group dynamic by using iManager. Set up the proper query string to populate the membership of the group. Once you do this step, you will no longer be able to access the group from ConsoleOne and thus will no longer be able to edit the GroupWise information for step 2. Make sure you have everything set up correctly before performing this step.
4. Make sure the eDirectory user synch is running. This is what will read the membership of the group and populate the GroupWise distribution list information in the domain and post office databases.
Please note that the GroupWise distribution list will not be truly dynamic. Updates to group membership will not make it to GroupWise except when eDirectory user sync runs. By default, this is 1 AM each morning.
