Environment
Novell Access Management 3 Access Administration
Access Manager 3 Interim release 2
Situation
Test Access Manager environment was setup on various hardware. It
was decided to clean the system by doing an uninstall of the
services and then a reinstall, before putting it into production.
When doing the uninstall, rather than manually uninstalling all the
components, a forceful uninstall was done (option 3).
The uninstall seemed to run successfully and no error messages were reported in the logs.
When the install was restarted, the 'Access Manager Administration' part of the install would hang forever and never complete successfully. Looking at the output logs in the /tmp/novell_access_manager directory, we could see that the eDirectory part of the install would fail to get pushed down to the server.

Resolution
Using an LDAP browser, manually delete the LDAP server and LDAP
group objects under the o=novell container. These objects remained
from the previous installation and were not removed with the
forceful uninstall. Removing them will allow the eDirectory
installation to go through successfully.
