Environment

Novell GroupWise 7
Novell GroupWise 7 SP1
Novell GroupWise 7 SP2

Situation

Viewing the properties of a GroupWise email opens a new window with the following prompt.

Do you want to save this file?
Name: GW}0000x.TMP
Type: Unknown File Type
From: C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Te...

Resolution

This can be caused by a combination of "ignore GroupWise Internet Addressing" and "Enable Junk Handling"

If both are enabled in your GroupWise system, you will be prompted "Do you want to save this file" and not see the properties of a Received Message.

To see the properties of a received message one of the above needs to be disabled.

Ignore GroupWise Internet Addressing is found in ConsoleOne in the properties of the GroupWise GWIA object | SMTP/MIME tab | Address Handling

Enable Junk Handling is found in ConsoleOne in the Client Options for either the Domain, Post Office or an individual user object. Highlight the object | Right Click | GroupWise Utilities | Client Options | Environment | Junk Mail Tab.

This problem can also be caused when there are invalid formatted email addresses in the GroupWise Client's Junk Mail block list. Such as "User@domain.com".domain.com " In the GroupWise client choose Tools | Junk Mail Handling | Block List tab. Scroll through this list looking very closely for invalid formatted email addresses. If you find any, delete them.
