Environment

Novell ZENworks Desktop Management 7 - ZDM7 Imaging

Situation

Files are restored to the wrong directory by restoring a ZENworks image.
When the following directory structure
( „C:\Install\$oem$\xxxxxxxxxxxx\xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx\bin\HPMobile Printing\2.1.0.1\Windows\System\spool\drivers\w32x86\3")
is restored from an image file to a FAT32 partition, the files which belong originally to the subdirectory "3" are now placed to the "w32x86" subdirectory.

Resolution

Fixed in ZENworks 7 Desktop Management Service Pack 1 Interim Release 3a, available at https://download.novell.com

Bug Number

195035

Additional Information

  1. Create the following directory structure:Steps to reproduce:
    „C:\Install\$oem$\xxxxxxxxxxxx\xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx\bin\HPMobile Printing\2.1.0.1\Windows\System\spool\drivers\w32x86\3"
  2. Copy any file into the least two subdirectories (w32x86 and 3)
  3. Take an image.
  4. Delete the filesystem structure.
  5. Restore the image.

Root cause:
Re-imaging of a workstation by using ZENWorks imaging engine must not change the directory structure or the file locations.
