Environment

SafeGuard Easy 4.10
SafeGuard Easy 4.30.1
Novell Client 4.91 SP3
Novell Client 4.91 SP4 (beta)

Situation

Passthrough authentication not working
Username and Password is entered, but Novell Client does not automatically login
Autologin does not work when SafeGuard Easy is installed
Autologin does not work with NMAS Authentication enabled
Beginning with the Novell Client for Windows version 4.90 SP2, the initial login window title changed slightly to indicate the version and support pack level. Previous client versions would display "Novell Login" in the title bar.
SafeGuard Easy installs it's own processes that look for the Novell client login window with the title of "Novell Login". The SafeGuard Easy software will not perform the auto admin logon if it doesn't detect the login window.
example: Beta Novell Client 4.91 SP4

Resolution

The Novell Client reads a registry key to determine what to display for the login window title.
Make certain that this registry key reflects "Novell Login".
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Novell\NetWareWorkstation\CurrentVersion
ProductName REG_SZ "Novell Login"
Another possible solution is to upgrade the SafeGuard software to version 4.30.1 or later.

Additional Information

If the Novell client is removed and reinstalled, or updated then this string may be changed by the client installation program. After making these types of changes to the Novell client you should validate that this string has not been modified.
