Environment

GroupWise 7 Client Service Pack 1 Interim Release 1
GroupWise 7 Client Service Pack 2
Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2
Microsoft Windows Server 2000 Service Pack 4

Situation

When an outlook user that sends an email in rich text format to a GroupWise user, the GroupWise user opens up the email and tries to forward it but will receive the hour glass and the GroupWise client crashes.

Resolution

Work Around:

From Exchange, there is a way to not allow (RTF) rich text formatted emails to be sent out. This way if a company is receiving emails from this Exchange system they won't receive them in RTF format.

Additional Information

This is on Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Windows 2000 Service Pack 4.

I have been able to duplicate this with GroupWise client 7.0.1 and 7.0.2 build 553 and 550.

Steps to duplicate:
1. Have someone running an Exchange 2003 box send you an email in (RTF) rich text format from an Outlook 2002 client. Could be the Outlook 2003 client as well, but haven't tested it.
2. Open up GroupWise 7 Service Pack 1 Interim Release 1, which should be build number 553, you can also use build number 550 when it comes out.
3. Open up the email in your inbox from the user and click on the forward button. You will get the hour glass and then GroupWise will crash.

4. To check if the right file is in the header you need to open the email, then go to File>Attachements>View and at the top by the MIME file you will see a comprtf.001 beside it. If you see this file then GroupWise should crash on builds 553 and 550.

Note: I tried this with GroupWise build 481 and it worked fine when trying to forward.
