Environment

Novell NetWare 6.5 Support Pack 6

Situation

After updating to NetWare 6.5 SP6, users with a very long FDN (Fully Distinguished Name) are failing to login through FTP.

Resolution

NWFTPD.NLM relies on login calls in NETNLM32.NLM to authenticate users. In SP6, certain functions of NETNLM32 are now being redirected through NMAS. The interaction between NETNLM32 and NMAS had some buffers which were not large enough to hold all the information that might be necessary for users with long FDNs.
The buffers in NETNLM32.NLM have been increased. This change is provided in NetWare 6.5 SP7, but can also be obtained for SP6 in library update libcsp6b.zip.
