Novell Client 4.91 has been installed before running the eDirectory installation routine.
Client NICI version 2.4.2 has been installed before running the eDirectory installation routine

Situation

eDirectory installation routine for windows stops with a fatal error
Fatal: The installed license driver is not Server-Mode, which is required for this eDirectory installation. Please update your licensing software, then re-run this installation.

Resolution

Method 1:

  1. Copy the NICI license key (stored on the eDir license disk with the extension nfk) into the "system32\novell\nici" directory as "NICIFK" (no file extension).
  2. Run the the eDirectory 8.7.X / 8.8.X installation process again
Method 2 :
  1. Go to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Novell\Nici folder
  2. Execute the SET_SERVER_MODE.BAT file
  3. Run the the eDirectory 8.7.X / 8.8.X installation process again


Additional Information

NICI will be switched from client into server mode by processing the NICI license (foundation) key as a seed in order to generate all required keys.
