Environment

NSL6
Novell SecureLogin Demo Version
Eval version installed on workstations

Situation

How do you license the time bombed eval version of NSL6?

Resolution

Uninstall the eval version of NSL, and install the purchased, licensed version. No data will be lost. The licensed version will use any credentials that were stored by the demo version - regardless of whether credentials were stored in the local cache or the directory.

As a precaution, the a backup copy of SecureLogin data can be made from the workstation for the logged in user, or from iManager for the tree or container.

From the workstation, right click the SecureLogin icon in the system tray, select "Advanced," and then choose "Backup User Information." This will export NSL data for that user to an xml file. To restore the saved xml file, right click on the SecureLogin icon in the system tray, select "Advanced," and then choose "Restore User Information."

From iManager, under roles and tasks, go to "Manage SecureLogin SSO," choose the container, click on the "Distrubution" tab,"Save," and then select the types of items to be saved a the backup XML file. Restoring the saved backup can be done from the same location in iManger - just click on "Load" and point to the saved XML file.

As mentioned, saving NSL data to an XML file is only a precaution. By default the licensed version of SecureLogin will read the data stored by the eval version without any user intervention, regardless of whether that data is stored on the workstation or in the directory.
