Environment

Novell ConsoleOne 1.3.6f
Novell eDirectory 8.7.3.7 for NetWare 6.5
Novell NetWare 6.5 Support Pack 5

Situation

Browsing a traditional volume on a NetWare 6.5 SP5 server with ConsoleOne 1.3.6f displays no files or directories on the volume.
Browsing the same traditional volume with ConsoleOne 1.3.6e (or earlier) displays files and directories as per the authorized rights fo the connected user.
Browsing the traditional volume with Windows Explorer correctly displays the files and directories as per the authorized rights of the connected user.
Browsing NSS volumes correctly shows the files and directories of the volume.

Resolution

To resolve or workaround this issue do one of the following:

- Apply Support Pack 6 to the NetWare 6.5 server - this upgrades eDirectory to 8.7.3.9

- Apply eDirectory 8.7.3.9 to the NetWare 6.5 server

- Convert the Traditional Volume to a NSS volume

- Use ConsoleOne 1.3.6e or earlier to browse the Traditional volume(s)

Root Cause:
eDirectory 8.7.3.7 responds to the initial UTF8 from ConsoleOne 1.3.6f's request to search the Traditional volume with an incorrect response code. This results in ConsoleOne 1.3.6f displaying a blank view of the contents of the volume as if there was no files or directories on that volume. eDirectory 8.7.3.9 provides the correct response code so that ConsoleOne 1.3.6f correctly requests and displays a correct view of the volume contents.

ConsoleOne 1.3.6e and earlier do not make the initial UTF8 request that returns the incorrect code so this issue is avoided with earlier versions of ConsoleOne.
