Situation
ERROR: "PDDM Exception, Error 183"
Users are getting the following PDDM Exception error (in some
cases not the 183 error) when logging into a terminal server with
the ZPM Agent installed.
Resolution
This have a fix that should resolve the problem with the
pddm.exe on Terminal Services or Citrix Servers.
Installation Instructions:
1. Download the attached file and place into c:\program
files\patchlink\update agent\ directory.
2. Rename pddm.exe to pddm.old
3. Rename pddm.ex_ to pddm.exe
4. Deploy the deployment Test and Diag Package and turn
deployment notification on.
If additional logging is needed once the newer version 2 of the PDDM.exe has been installed
Enable Logging Instructions:
1. Open the registry editor and go to
HKLM\SOFTWARE\PatchLink.com\Gravitix.
2. Create Dword Value Name "NTraceLogEnable†with a value if"1â€.
3. This will write all logging information to c:\Program Files\Common Files\PatchLink\Logs\NTRACE.LOG.
4. If this error occurs, open and Service Request with Novell and send in the log files for further investigation.

Workaround:
In the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
remove the String value:
PDDM"="C:\\PROGRAM FILES\\PATCHLINK\\UPDATE
AGENT\\pddm.exe"
This is a band-aid on the problem - after doing this no users
on that machine will ever be notified of patch deployment or
reboots.
