Additional Information

Known Issues

The following known issues apply to this version of the Agent MSI Installer v6.2 SR1 for Windows:

  • Although unsupported, if installed alongside or by way of Citrix (any version) you may experience unknown and sporadic behavior
  • Uninstall by a non-administrative user raises an error message and will not uninstall the Agent
  • Attempting to perform an Upgrade using the MSI installer will perform a reinstall instead
  • If logged in as a user without administrative rights, the PatchLink Update Agent will not be shown in the Add/Remove Programs list
  • Due to the security infrastructure of Microsoft Windows 98 any user can uninstall the PatchLink Update Agent
  • Cancelling the agent uninstall may not restart the agent
  • Installation of agent will proceed, although the minimum requirement, of Internet Explorer 5.01, is not met
  • If the Host URL or Serial Number values are not populated, the Next button will be disabled
  • If a user without administrative rights attempts an install using the MSI Installer, the installer will skip to the Wizard Complete dialog without any indication that the installation did not occur
  • Agent repair overwrites server, serial and proxy settings with default settings, regardless of user input
  • Windows NT may display an error if you attempt to logoff when the agent is running the Discovery Process (dagent.exe)
  • On Windows XP, if attempt to install as a user without administrative rights, the resulting error message may vary dependent upon whether the agent already exists
  • If attempting to install without sufficient disk space, two (one after the other) dialogs may display indicating the lack of disk space
  • If a user attempts to install without populating the Host URL or Serial Number fields they may have to either; use the mouse to return to the required fields, or change focus to another window and back using ALT+TAB
  • Using the Uninstall option available on the context menu (right-mouse menu) of the UpdateAgent.msi file may not remove the PatchLink Update Agent entry from the Add/Remove programs screen
  • The installation notes, on the PatchLink Update Agent Installers page incorrectly refers to the MSI Installer as UpdateAgent.exe instead of UpdateAgent.msi
