Environment

Novell iManager 2.5
Novell iManager 2.6
Novell Open Enterprise Server on Linux

Situation

iManager plug-ins do not uninstall completely

Resolution

Normal method for uninstalling iManager plug-ins:
  1. Select the "configure" icon from the top of iManager
  2. Expand "Module Installation"
  3. Select "Installed Novell Plug-in Modules"
  4. Put a check mark by the Plug-in then select "Uninstall" (Archive Versioning, Cluster Services, and Storage Management, AFP, ARK, NCS, NSS, DFS, Storage, SharedContentV1)
  5. Restart Tomcat and Apache
  6. Go into Available plugins and add the storage plugins, but only install the storage plugins.  Except for DFS and SharedContentV1.
  7. Restart Tomcat.  Verify the RBS Configuration no longer shows the "out of date" Storage Content module.  Now the DFS plugin can be installed.
  8. Stop and restart Tomcat
  9. Install the SharedContentV1 plugin again
Manual method for uninstalling if the above does not remove these plug-ins.
  1. /var/opt/novell/iManager/nps/portal/modules delete the ark, ncs, and nss directories
  2. /var/opt/novell/iManager/nps/WEB-INF delete ark.tld, ncs.tld, and nss.tld
  3. /var/opt/novell/iManager/nps/WEB-INF/lib delete all the jar files that start with ark, nss, and ncs
  4. /var/opt/novell/iManager/nps/WEB-INF/modules delete the ark, ncs, and nssmgmt directories
  5. Restart Tomcat and Apache
Reinstall the desired version of the Storage, Clustering, and Archive Versioning plug-ins and restart Tomcat and Apache.
All three of these plug-ins need to be from the same timeframe as they share common code.
Since they share common code please do not uninstall one of them and expect the other two to work as with the uninstall the common code has been removed that the other plug-ins will need.
