Failed to connect to Secure Logging Server, error 5; aborting

Environment

Novell Audit 1.0.3
Platform Agent (PA) for NetWare
Secure Logging Server (SLS) on Linux

Situation

When loading the instrumentation (i.e. AUDITDS.NLM, AUDITNW.NLM, etc), the following error is displayed on the Logger screen:

Nsure Audit Platform Agent: Failing primary connection for application NetWareInst.
Novell Audit NetWare Instrumentation Agent: Failed to connect to Secure Logging Server, error 5; aborting.
Nsure Audit Platform Agent: Failing primary connection for application eDirInst.
Novell Audit eDirectory Instrumentation Agent: Failed to connect to Secure Logging Server, error 5; aborting.

The same PA can communicate successfully to an alternate SLS without displaying these errors.

Resolution

Within iManager, verify that the eDirectory and NetWare logging applications are installed and enabled.  This is done from the Logging Server Options >> Log Applications area.  For an instrumentation agent to successfully contact the SLS, the corresponding logging application must be installed and enabled.
