BSOD "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" when using NPRINTER

Situation

TID 10090741 recommends NWSIPX32.SYS dated 31.AUG.2005 or later to resolve the error:
"DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL".

The problem occurs only on XP (i.e. it never happens on Windows 2000) when using NPRINTER. The service starts, sometimes prints

well for quite a while, then suddenly the workstation crashes (BSOD), and restarts.

The same print job can then come out later without problem.

With the nwsipx32.sys dated 27Oct2005, the following crash dump information may be displayed:

 DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL STOP: 0x000000D1  0x000000A4, 0x00000002, 0x0, 0xAAD8D43A nwsipx32.sys ‑ Addess: 0xAAD8D43A base: 0xAAD88000 (datestamp: 43615172)

Resolution

Migrate to a current, supported solution, as described in TID 10060125
"How can NDPS use a printer locally attached to a Windows NT or Windows 2000"
