Situation
Collection editor does not exit and load if a change is made
to the collection editor.
Within the collection option set, on the General tab, within
the Run Collection Editor section is an option to allow the
collection editor to exit and load the data after a set timeout
limit.
Resolution
This one is
entirely by design. The timeout waits for any operator action
forthe
timeout interval before exiting. Any operator interaction at all -
evensimply switching the
focus to a different cell, prevents the editor fromclosing.
The
ONE thingthe operator could do without circumventing the
timeoutis
editing the default cell (generally the First Name field) without
committingthe change by moving
their focus to another cell (we can't detect editingwithin that cell until
it's committed).
The intent was that the collector could run (complete with Collection Editor)entirely unattended without hanging in a "wait state" overnight - or over aweekend - or over a vacation time.
If an operator manually changed the focus, then we assume that the operator hadintent to continue editing. We don't want to time out while the operator islaboring through their edit, discarding their work. This could easily happen ifthey paused to ask questions about the kind of information they're expected toenter into some field or other.
