Updating from GroupWise 6.5 to GroupWise 7 SP1

Situation

Questions arise regarding the upgrade from GroupWise 6.5 to GroupWise 7 SP1 and whether it is neccessary to first upgrade to 7.0 shipping code. 

Resolution

When upgrading to GroupWise 7 SP1 it is not neccessary to first upgrade the system to GroupWise 7 shipping code, though the original media is required:
  • Go to filefinder and download the required patch
  • Extract the patch to the location you wish to install the software from
  • From the original media copy the Domain and PO directories to the new, extracted location.
  • Run the install from the new location and install as normal.
